A group music blog of weekly themes. Each week, the moderator will pick a new theme and the members will post songs that fit, especially rare gems others may have not heard before.

We will call attention to forgotten gems and songs that have stood the test of time!

(We wish to stand out from the other blogs out there with this collection of rarities.)

Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood - Elvis Costello

This song by Nina Simone was covered by the punk rock band The AnimalsCat Stevens and the “disco latin” group Santa Esmeralda (probably the most known version), among many others. What I like the most about Elvis’ version is the fact that he brought together various elements from some of the previous versions, including Santa Esmeralda’s. He also captured the essence of torture that the song evokes. Not to mention that, if you know a bit about this man’s life and his fame of angry young man, the lyrics seem to fit him very well. This definitely wasn’t a random recording.
